Protecting Your Vision Starts with Early Detection

Many eye diseases don't announce themselves right away. In fact, some of the most common causes of vision loss can develop quietly for years before noticeable symptoms appear.

That's why routine eye exams are the perfect opportunity to monitor your eye health, identify changes, and protect your vision before problems have a chance to progress.

Signs Something May Be Wrong

While many eye diseases develop without obvious symptoms, there are certain warning signs that should never be ignored. Schedule an eye exam if you experience:

  • Blurry or distorted vision
  • New floaters or flashes of light
  • Difficulty seeing at night
  • Changes in peripheral (side) vision
  • Increased glare sensitivity
  • Sudden changes in vision
  • Dark or missing areas in your field of view

Even if symptoms seem minor, it's always better to have them evaluated. Your eyes are pretty good at compensating for small changes, sometimes a little too good, and you don't even realize there's a problem until significant damage has already been done.

Eye Disease We Monitor

Glaucoma Management

Glaucoma is known as the "silent thief of sight" because it can damage your vision without causing noticeable symptoms in its early stages.

This condition affects the optic nerve, which carries visual information from the eye to the brain. Once vision loss from glaucoma occurs, it cannot be reversed, making early detection and monitoring incredibly important.

Diabetic Monitoring

Diabetes can affect many parts of the body, including the eyes. Over time, changes in blood sugar can damage the delicate blood vessels inside the retina, increasing the risk of diabetic eye disease.

Regular diabetic eye exams allow us to monitor the health of your retina, identify signs of diabetic eye disease, and help protect your long-term vision. We work closely with patients to provide ongoing monitoring and recommendations so there are no surprises when it comes to their eye health.

Retinal Monitoring

Think of your retina as the movie screen at the back of your eye. It's responsible for receiving light and helping create the images you see.

Because the retina plays such an important role in vision, monitoring its health is a critical part of comprehensive eye care. Using advanced retinal imaging technology, we can evaluate the retina in detail and track even subtle changes over time.

Macular Degeneration

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) affects the central portion of your vision, which is responsible for activities like reading, driving, recognizing faces, and seeing fine details.

Like many eye conditions, AMD often develops gradually. Early detection allows us to monitor changes and help preserve vision for as long as possible. Regular eye exams and retinal imaging play an important role in identifying macular degeneration early.

Keratoconus

Keratoconus is an eye condition that causes the cornea (the clear front surface of the eye) to become thinner and change shape. As this happens, your vision becomes blurry, distorted, or difficult to correct with traditional glasses.

For many patients, specialty contact lenses can provide clearer, more comfortable vision. If specialty lenses may be beneficial, we'll help you understand your options and determine the best next steps. We use advanced technology to monitor keratoconus and much more.
