What counts as an Eye Emergency?

Not every eye emergency involves severe pain or a dramatic injury. Some of the most serious eye conditions can begin with subtle symptoms. Contact our College Station eye clinic if you experience:

  • A foreign object in the eye
  • An eye injury
  • Eye pain or discomfort
  • New flashes of light or floaters
  • Redness accompanied by irritation
  • Signs of an eye infection
  • Sudden changes in vision

When in doubt, call our eye doctors. We'll help determine the next best step.

Common Eye Emergencies We Treat

Eye Allergies: Eye allergies can cause your eyes to itch, water, and turn red. While mild symptoms may improve with over-the-counter treatments, persistent or severe symptoms require an eye evaluation and treatment.

Eye Infections: Eye infections can cause redness, swelling, discharge, irritation, and sensitivity to light. Prompt treatment can help relieve discomfort, prevent complications, and get you back to feeling like yourself again.

Foreign Removal: Dust, dirt, metal shavings, eyelashes, and other debris can become trapped in the eye, causing discomfort. Our team can evaluate and remove many foreign bodies while helping to prevent damage to the eye's surface. If something is stuck in your eye, avoid rubbing it.

Contact Lens Stuck in the Eye: If you believe a contact lens is stuck in your eye, avoid excessive rubbing or repeatedly attempting to remove it yourself. Our team can locate the lens and safely remove it while checking for any irritation or damage to the eye's surface.
